Charismatic front man Lucas Guerin, through equal parts perseverance and good fortune, has managed to compose a band of enigmatic, mesmerizing characters; together, they alternately entice and enthrall. Critically likened to such musical influences as Sly and the Family Stone, Prince, and the Talking Heads, Casxio has made their mark from the East Side haunts such as the Echoplex, Spaceland and the El Rey et al to the slightly more
self-important halls of Hollywood's Bardot, and the jaded head bobbing of the audience has given way to a bacchanalian celebration of music one cannot help but move to.
Lucas, the insouciant Frenchman responsible for writing the songs, holds down lead vocals and bass, smoldering with an unabashed soulfulness. Guitarist Eric Saez, an NYU accredited thespian, brings with him an animal magnetism that will not be denied. Andrea Choe, the quixotic keyboardist whose curricular activities inspire respect (PhD research aimed at halting parasitic reproduction, -or, as her mates call it, “studying worm vaginas”) manages to dance the fine line between erotically charged and untouchable; Zach Schrock, the drummer eliciting unwitting hip-thrusts from the would-be disaffected, alternates his time between photography and sound engineering.
Since their inception in 2007, Casxio has developed an impressive retinue, hailed by critics and garnering a loyal following of revelers. Booked solely by good word of mouth, Casxio has built a wave of momentum that can only continue to propel.
Casxio continues to intermittently tour the Southwestern United States while masterminding their debut album.
