// About Artist Rise //

Artist Rise is for the concert industry, a free profile based community allowing Performing Artists, Industry Professionals, Venues and Fans to network, promote, book shows online and progress the industry through collaboration.

The digital age of music has packed the web with social media sites and the audience’s ever-shortening attention span is left buried within a sea of advertisements.  As the record industry struggles to find a new bottom line, we’re left with corporate branded creativity, misdirected talent and in many cases bad taste.  Yet, the show must go on...

Our goal is to build a community that heightens the experience of live music, not digital music. To develop unique culture and provide cutting edge features which cultivate creative projects and business relationships between members.  We’re doing this free of charge and with as little advertising as possible. We’re beginning with Los Angeles and New York but encourage everyone to join. To begin you’ll create a custom profile. Now, take a moment review the basics or JOIN FREE.

THE BASICS

HOME PAGE:  Our vision was to create a “living” homepage featuring content submitted by AR members. We hope to inspire debate, fresh thought and progress the industry by sharing information between one another.  The page was designed to serve as a resource with sections highlighting news, events, reviews and rants. Just click the submit link in each section and send us your content – we’ll get it posted asap.  Every article includes discussion threads so feel free to speak your mind.  No censorship here.

PROFILES:  AR has 5 profile types. During registration choose 1 of the following:

1.  ARTIST      An independent musician (i.e. John Lennon)

2.  BAND*      Group of musicians   (i.e. The Beatles)

3.  VENUE       Performance venue

4.  MEMBER    Fans and industry professionals

5.  FILM*       Actor, actress, director, writer, producer, technical etc...

* Each band member should also create an Artist profile. In each Band profile we link each band member’s individual Artist profiles. This allows “Artists” to be in than one band and share solo side projects. * Why do we have a film group? -  Although we’re starting with music we plan to eventually explore film. We figured by including this group now that a few pioneers may jump start the network for us.

MY AR:  “MY AR” is the admin side of your profile. From this control page you can edit the content of your profile and adjust settings. This is also where you go to review messages and performance offers.

CONTACTS:  AR like MySpace and Facebook includes a friends system.  However, in AR we call “Friends”, “Contacts”. We don’t feel the term friend should be thrown around so loosely and in business we seek to make contacts not necessarily friends.

FOOTPRINTS:  AR  includes a “footprints system”. This allows you to see a list of who’s visited your profile. This way you can network without having to do any extra work. You can simply review your footprints list and contact who you find interesting. Don’t worry - you can leave anonymous footprints by adjusting your member settings.

MESSAGING:  Once registered you’ll have a personal mailbox system to send and receive private messages.  Public discussion boards are integrated into each member’s profile.

VIRTUAL BOOKING & RIDERS: Built into each Artist and Band profile is a “virtual booking system” that allows anyone to submit a live performance offer directly to the member’s message inbox. Band and Artist members can also upload production requirements to a “view rider” portion of their profile.

CALENDAR & TICKETING: Band, Artist and Venue profiles contain a calendar based scheduling system for public promotional use as well as personal organization. For example, if you’re a Band you can post rehearsal times or promote upcoming shows. Each show can also include a “ticket link” that takes the viewer to whatever site on the net is selling tickets.

MEDIA (AUDIO, VIDEO & PHOTOS):

Audio:     Band, Artist and Venue members can upload MP3’s to a player on their profile.

Video:     All members can display videos hosted elsewhere on the web to a videos page in their profile.

Images:  All members can upload photos to a personal photos page in their profile.

Who are we you ask? AR was founded by one guy in the agency business who decided to invest in an experiment and we have since assembled a great team to help us grow. There’s no corporate money behind AR and if you take a look around, you’ll notice something - minimal advertising. We want to keep the site pure.  As we grow, we’ll probably have to place more ads but we promise to maintain as little BS as possible. We want AR to represent the music scene, to be intelligent, entertaining and even controversial at times.

Why only NY, LA & London? Anyone can join AR. We have nothing against other cities, we’re just starting small in the beginning to ensure real networking value.

Promote Artist Rise. Please spread the word!  Tell your friends and colleagues about AR. There’s great opportunity here and if we do things right, we’ll get more Artists on stage, spark innovation, and ensure that live music is the future of music.

There’s more to learn but first it’s time to CREATE YOUR PROFILE.
